Welcome to the Café!

The Café (Catechetical and Formation Evaluation) is a program for parishes and communities to use to help assess and evaluate their on-going faith formation programming.

The goal of the Café program is to help parishes monitor their programs by utilizing feedback from those involved in developing, those who serve, and those who are participating in these programs.

Evaluating a parish’s faith formation efforts is not an attempt to point out shortcomings or weakness in programming.

The Café process is a program to help with long term goals, models for faith formation programs, and to assess if you are meeting the needs of your congregation. It is centered on openness, dialogue, conversation, and long-term planning.

The Café process includes four steps:

• An initial meeting with the Pastor/Administrator and the Pastoral Staff
• Completion of an on-line assessment of the parish’s total faith formation efforts
• Review and compilation of the data and feedback
• On-site review with the parish staff presenting results, trends, best practices and future goals for faith formation programming

The Café Program is a service offered by the Department of Evangelization and Catechesis of the Diocese of Rochester and is available to parishes upon request.

There is an associated cost to facilitate the Café Program.
