Newark Catholics believe in the power of the rosary’s prayers

More than 30 people gathered in Newark's Central Park at noon Oct. 12. Rosaries in hand, they prayed aloud near the village park's gazebo while passersby enjoyed the pleasant autumn weather.

This gathering was one of more than 22,000 public square rosary rallies that took place across the nation Oct. 12, according to Pat Malach, the rally's coordinator and a member of Newark's St. Michael Parish.

"We had the most people we've ever had," she remarked. "We're witnessing to our Catholic faith, and it could touch somebody that maybe is a fallen-away Catholic."
